A Little HistoryI’ll try to make this as short and sweet as possible, but the long version is a gripping tale fraught with adventure, try to at least see the movie someday. I am in my mid-thirties. I have been married for over fifteen years to one of the best human beings I have ever met, and together we are trying (and in my opinion succeeding) to raise three more good people. Our Children are age fifteen, twelve and nine. My family moved to Michigan when I was in fourth grade, and I am a proud graduate of East Kentwood High School. After school I joined the military. After returning home I started college but quickly abandoned it, the allure of the fast money and dull work of manufacturing.
I am a pretty laid back person, and over the years have matured enough to realize that one of the most important things a person can do for themselves is make the decision to have a positive attitude. Ken Keys Jr. once said
“A loving person lives in a loving world. Hostile person lives in a hostile world, and everyone you meet is your mirror.” It is the only thing of Ken Keys Jr. that I read, but it is one of my favorite quotes. I try to live my life with those words in mind, am I always able? Most of the time, but not always, but each day is a new one and a second chance. |
In 2003 after and close to ten years in manufacturing and management both my wife and I decided to return to higher education in order to find more fulfilling careers. After years of hard work, sacrifice, and still holding down full-time jobs, my wife and I were able to show our children the results of the rewards of discipline and perseverance. In 2010 our kids watched their mother graduate as a Registered Nurse, and in 2011 they watched me receive my teaching degree.
I am also a person that is prone to have a hobby (or three); my wife might call them obsessions. I am a big reader I love to read books, escape in stories. I think books make great decoration and have quite a library, but I have embraced my ereader and its ability to tote thousands of books in the space of one paperback or magazine. In seventh grade when most boys are losing their love of reading, mine was emboldened with the discovery of comic books, the marriage of heroic narratives and Saturday morning cartoons. I continue to collect comics to this day, though my tastes have changed as I mature and there is less bang pow biff in the comics I read. But by far the collectable that drives both my wife and I insane, though for different reasons are action figures. I am a total Star Wars guy and if there is one thing to really come out of Star Wars it is merchandising. The first toys I remember owning were action figures. In the interest of full disclose I might have a costume or two. Hey it could be worse right, I could like reality TV.
