While evaluations from administration, colleagues, and parents should be given great weight and reflected on in a serious manner, the student’s evaluation of our strengths and shortcomings presents a picture of us as teachers that may not be possible from adult evaluators. There are many factors that play into how students see and feel about you; these include relationship, methods, and many others. These evaluations were done during my student teaching by students in my language arts and social studies classes. They remind me that student’s perception must be considered and used to make meaningful adjustments if we are going to make the leap from classroom to learning community. As teachers we often tell students and hopefully we believe that their thoughts and ideas are important, this should include the ideas about us.
